Short Story
There is a story I heard
some time ago and whether is true or fiction, whether you are a fan of
Hemingway or not, I believe this to be the epitome of storytelling.
Apparently, Hemingway
insisted in a literary conversation that a short story, the shorter the better,
could be as gripping as a long, winded elaborated one. He was challenged on the issue in the same
discussion. People argued and insisted
on the weight and consequence of words, lots of words, used to build a good and
compelling tale.
As a result, Hemingway
was dared to write a story in as little as 6 words.
If the following is a
myth or not it does not even matter because the point is made and I can hardly
think of any better story than the one Hemingway allegedly scribbled on a
napkin:
“Baby shoes for sale. Never worn.”

Wonderful story, and sad. Reminds me of a contest we once did to write a 12 word story. Very challenging!

I've seen this before, Adina. Short and sweet and your imagination fills in the blanks.
